Shawn Faust

The genesis of Shawn Faust’s work is a manifestation of respect and reverence he has for nature and his relationship within it. As a lifetime participant in the wonders of perception, he finds the power and nuances of atmospheric light upon animal forms to be a constant source of inspiration. Employing his classical training in oils, Faust employs the historic means of portraiture as a symbolic gesture of homage in hopes of elevating the status and awareness of his subjects.

Faust is currently recognized as one of the premier equine artist in America. He is a Signature member of the American Academy of Equine Art, a founding member of the Portrait Society of America and an Associate member of Oil Painters of America. Faust recently exhibited in the 2019 Beijing International Art Biennale in China and has exhibited in national galleries and museums such as the Wildlife Experience Museum, Parker, CO; Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, DE; Biggs Museum of American Art, Dover, DE; Sage Creek Gallery, Santa Fe, NM and Spa Fine Art Gallery, Saratoga Springs, NY. His work hangs in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Horse Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, NY, the National Museum of China in Beijing, China and the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum in Washington, DC.

Faust earned his MFA in studio arts from the University of The Arts and a BFA in illustration from the University of Delaware.
