Edith Stevenson

I was born in Stirling, Scotland where I developed a lifelong love of art and graduated from the Glasgow School of Art. It was there that that I developed my sense of direction, finding beauty in the everyday, and translating it through drawing, painting and fibers. After graduating, I spent much of my career as an art teacher, sharing my passion with students of all ages. In 1987, I moved with my family to beautiful Chester County where I continued to teach art in the Downingtown School District until my retirement. I am now a full time artist, working from my studio at home.
The God-given natural beauty around me continually captivates my creative energy. Nature is a constant source of inspiration, be it the majestic mountains of the Scottish Highlands or the creeks, woodlands and birds near my home here in Chester County. I am captivated by the effects created by light on the land and I work intuitively across a variety of media, including acrylics, watercolors, and fibers.
I am a signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and the co-chair of Artists Circle. My work has been exhibited at The Malvern Retreat Art Show, Yellow Springs Art Show, The Boyer Gallery, Chester County Studio Tour, and is regularly on display at Maureen’s Gallery in Exton.
