Gwenn Knapp

Gwenn loves to paint realistic images in oils, and her favorite subjects are people. She explores the ways we interact with the rest of the natural world, highlighting the things we do, make & dream. Her artwork seeks to capture human energy and spirit, as well as the creatures and creations that are part of our worlds. Her belief is that attending to things we love to do — even in small ways — helps to keep us thriving.
Gwenn likes to say she's been living serial lives. Notably, she has been a math major, business owner, mother, and judge. But one dream has always stayed with her—to paint. It took years of life’s realities before she could become an active artist. Now she is living her dream! Her dream is to make paintings that encourage you to follow your dreams—or dream it anyway!
Gwenn received a B.A. in Fine Arts from Bucknell University in 1967, and a Certificate in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 1968. She was the Art Director of her own graphic design studio in West Chester, PA from 1973–2003. In 2003, she was elected Magisterial District Judge in West Chester, and served from 2004–2016. Currently, Gwenn serves on the Board of the Chester County Art Association. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and of the Longwood Rotary Club.
