Denise Vitollo

“In my pastel paintings, I explore color, and how it is influenced by light and shadow. It is my goal to convey the intense pulsations and energy I feel in the world around me. I passionately experience the outdoors, and I bring that sense of discovery and excitement to my work.”
A lifetime artist, Denise holds Signature Status with five Pastel and Watercolor Societies: Philadelphia Pastel Society, Philadelphia Water Color Society, Degas Pastel Society of NOLA, Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, and the Maryland Pastel Society. She is the Vice President of the Philadelphia Pastel Society.
Ms. Vitollo often works in plein air. She has participated in Plein Air Brandywine, and has also been a plein air artist with LandArt Events. She enjoys experimenting with mixed media in her studio and on location, often combining watercolor or printmaking with pastels.
In the past three years, Denise has twice been juried into the competitive Pastel Journal’s annual Pastel 100. She has been accepted to national and international juried shows at the Pastel Society of America in NYC, International Association of Pastel Societies, Philadelphia Water Color Society’s International Works on Paper, Audubon Artists in NYC, and many other exhibitions.
