Diane Lavelle
Since Diane was child she was drawn to soft baby chicks, puppies and kittens and their gesture and emotion. She drew with chalk on the street in front of my house and painted in watercolors. She was always making something or drawing.
Diane went on to study fashion design and architecture and when her children got older, she went back to her first love of drawing and painting using oils and pastels. Diane uses broken brush strokes to describe gesture and movement to make an emotional connection. She loves being able to interpret her feelings in her art and connect with the viewer.
Painting in her studio or outside in Plein-Air is her happy place. Diane is a life long student of art. She takes figure drawing weekly and workshops with other artists to continue to learn and improve. There is always more to be gained by being curious about how another artist achieved their vision. Diane has taken workshops with artists locally and also at Scottsdale Artist School and with international artists in Italy.
