Megan Lawlor
Born in Teaneck, NJ and raised at the Jersey shore community of Manasquan, Megan was educated at Moore College of Art & Design, where she majored in Fashion Illustration, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, where she continued her education in classical portrait and figure painting in oils.
Today her oil paintings include landscape and seascape themes in addition to portraiture and figurative works. Megan has always felt close to nature. Her plein air and studio paintings capture the variety and beauty of the elements whether in a field, at the beach, along a river or in a garden setting. Megan has received recognition and awards from the American Tonalist Society, the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Portrait Society of America, the Salmagundi Club and the Philadelphia Sketch Club, among others.
With her solid drawing, color theory and painting background, Megan strives to capture the feel of a place, something of the inner life of her portrait subjects, through use of brushwork and palette, not just copy what she sees. Her paintings convey her singular response to her subjects.
Her work has been widely exhibited and is held in collections in North America and Europe. Megan lives and works in North Wales, PA.
